Moving to Dublin, Ireland

In July 2015 I decided to turn the tables and quit my job at D-reizen, a Dutch travel agency. Ever since I graduated in June it felt like I was wasting my time in this tiny little country. Especially since there are so many beautiful places I wanted to explore and interesting cultures I would love to learn more about.

I started a new adventure by moving to Dublin, the capital of Ireland in January 2016. Not only to gain some work experience abroad but also to get to know new people. I was very excited to explore the city and try out the many restaurants, bars, bakeries and cafes. After I did a mini road trip around the South Western coast of Ireland in the summer of 2015, I definitely wanted to see more of this beautiful country!

Expat city

Dublin turned out to be the perfect place to start a new chapter of your life. Due to the many multinational companies and the regulations for non-Europeans to study and work in Ireland, there are lots of expats! I ended up meeting a lot of Mexicans, Italians and some other nationalities as well. I would definitely recommend moving to Dublin if you are interested in living abroad for a while. Especially for Europeans there are lots of jobs available.

Traveling to Ireland

Ireland is a gorgeous country, with its rough coastline, bustling pubs with live music, adorable little towns, glorious green hills and genuinely kind people! The weather is indeed pretty unpredictable, but I have actually had quite a lot of sunny days during my time there. Just wear layers and be prepared for all seasons and you’re good to go 🙂

Dublin is not the only reason to visit Ireland. There are many more spots around the country to explore, so I would recommend spending at least a week or 2 so you can really see the most important highlights.
