10 Best Brunch places in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is full of brunch cafes and restaurants serving amazing breakfast and lunch dishes. You just need to know where to find the right spots!

Most of the good brunch restaurants and cafes are outside the city centre, as this is where you will mostly find tourist traps. Read: overpriced restaurants serving way too many dishes and low-quality food. Do your research and try to explore the other neighbourhoods. To make sure you have a good food experience in Amsterdam, check out the list below and save them for your trip.

1. Lagom

Lagom is located near the Red Light District, which is not the nicest area of Amsterdam in my opinion. But it’s convenient as it is within walking distance of Amsterdam Central Station. I visited Lagom for the first time during summer and loved it! This place is spacious for Amsterdam standards and its green interior gives it a jungle vibe. Even better is the terrace which actually catches sun around brunch time, which is not that easy to find in Amsterdam. It’s the perfect place to start your day. They offer various sweet and savoury dishes, so there is something for everyone. We ordered the Blueberry French toast and Banana oats pancakes with walnuts and maple syrup. Both were very good!

2. Bali Brunch 82

Bali Brunch place is a cute café with an amazing menu, which makes you want to order everything. After a long time of doubting, I decided to go for the Banana Paradise pancakes. An order I did not regret =). This brunch place is located close to the Heineken Experience and within walking distance of Vijzelgracht Metro station. So if you are planning to visiting this attraction during your visit in Amsterdam, this could be the perfect combination! Afterwards, you could continue to explore de Pijp, which is one of my favourite neighbourhoods of Amsterdam.

3. MOAK Pancakes

A classic spot, which I already fell in love with right after they just opened their first location and were still called MOOK. I’ve been here a couple of times now and loved every dish so far. The pancakes are huge and very filling, so make sure you’re hungry when you decide to go. There are several MOAK cafes spread around Amsterdam city so you will likely be able to find one in your area.

4. Benji’s

I visited Benji’s a few years ago already but loved everything about it! The decor is super nice, an industrial vibe with lots of plants. Most importantly, their dishes are super yum as well. As usual, it was hard for me to make a decision, but it’s hard to go wrong here. It all looked very good! Eventually I took a bowl and my pretty friend on the photo below had salmon and avo on toast! They do all day brunch and don’t take bookings for groups under 7, so just pass by and hope for the best! There are 3 locations, so that gives you options at least.

5. Dignita

Dignita has a few locations around the city, we visited the one that’s close to Artis Zoo and Hortustuin. We went on a sunny day so were able to enjoy their sunny terrace. It almost feels like you’re not in Amsterdam anymore. This was our first brunch after Ramadan, so we went all out and ordered a couple of dishes to share. Everything was delicious, and beautifully plated!

6. Corner Bakery

Corner Bakery is known for its aesthetically pleasing plates and crazy shakes. A real dream for a sweet tooth like myself. I can recommend the French toast with fresh fruits, but everything looked amazing on the tables around us. By now there are multiple Corner Bakery cafes across Amsterdam so make sure to try one out. As you can see on the photo below they have a terrace with sun as well, I say winner!!

7. Moods Coffee Corner

Moods coffee corner is located in the Jordaan neighbourhood and a great place to start your Saturday morning. After you’ve enjoyed your brekkie you can start your stroll over the Noordermarkt, one of my favourite markets in Amsterdam. The market is only there on Saturdays so if you plan it well this could be a great start of your weekend. Moods doesn’t offer a ton of food options, but there is enough to have a lovely breakfast or brunch, if you visit the market first.

8. Lotti’s

Lotti’s is part of the Hoxton hotel and had been on my Amsterdam-food-list for a while. I must say, it’s way bigger than I expected, so also a bit louder. However, the atmosphere was nice and the brunch dishes we tried were both delicious! The Hoxton is located on the Herengracht, a central location. Once you’ve eaten your belly full, you can wander around the 9 straatjes (9 streets). Unlike some other breakfast places in Amsterdam, Lotti’s does accept reservations. It can get pretty full on the weekends especially, so I would definitely recommend booking your table in advance.

9. Bakers & Roasters

A classic brunch spot, with multiple branches across Amsterdam and maybe even in other cities. Bakers & Roasters is known for their extensive brunch menu and the place is almost always packed during the weekend. Make sure you make a reservation.

10. Mems – weekend brunch

At the time of writing Mems is temporarily closed according to Google Maps, but I expect them to re-open again at some point. When we visited Mems it was packed and their food is amazing so I can’t imagine that they’d have to close for good. Another café with too many great dishes on their menu. My brother and sister had the NY Style Pastrami, which they loved, and my mom and I destroyed Esra’s Choice. They offer several typical brunch cocktails so you’ll have all the ingredients for a Sunday Brunch!
