5 best places in Dublin for a sweet tooth

Before I moved to Ireland and afterwards as a flight attendant, I loved my short trips to Dublin. I really looked forward to spending a full day by myself in the city. It was like a mini food adventure where I would walk around the city and visit different cute bakeries and cafe’s. Trying out as many things as I could, and trust me, I can eat a lot.

As not all of these places are easy to find and may not always look very appealing from the outside, I decided to share my top 5 places to visit when you are craving some sweetness.

1.Sweet Republic

At first sight you might pass by this little cafe as it looks a bit quirky from the outside. If you do have the courage to go into this bright and colourful place, you’ll leave like a happy child with a little foodbaby in your belly. They make the biggest, craziest and (surprisingly) sweetest combinations of waffles, ice-cream, milkshakes, donuts and cookies.

2. The Rolling Donut

The rolling donut has been selling donuts for quite a long time now, but this is a relatively new place which opened last year. Here you’ll find some really unique donut flavours like maple syrup and bacon, Matcha tea and Caramel Pistachio. Their classic cinnamon donut never disappoints either.

3. Foam Cafe

Amazing cakes in a one of a kind cafe, where every inch of the wall and ceiling is covered with some kind of decoration or piece of art. Every time I go here, I see something new. Besides jummy cakes, they also offer Pizza’s, salads, egg dishes and some other bites.

Update: sadly this cafe has closed down.

4. Dolce Sicily

The place to be for a great amount of Italian cakes and cannoli with a good coffee. Even though the cafe is not that easy to find, it is always crowded. Look for the green stairs to a basement on Dawson street.

 5. Mooch

Frozen yoghurt, melted Kinder Bueno, waffles, sundaes, shakes, smoothies and a looot of toppings to choose from. Although Dublin isn’t the sunniest place on the planet, it is definitely a plus that they have a little terrace to sit outside. We have to enjoy those rare moments.
